Rara Gosht Mutton Curry
A tasty traditional mutton dish

Mutton | 500 gms |
Mince Meat | 250 gms |
Chopped tomatoes | 4 nos. |
Curd (whisked) | 3 tbsp |
Chilly paste | 2tsp |
Coriander Powder | 1 tbsp |
Ginger Garlic paste | 1 tbsp |
Oil | 3 tbsp |
Sliced onions | 3 nos. |
Shahi Zeera | 1/2 tsp |
Garam masala powder | 1 tbsp |
Nutmeg powder | a pinch |
Mace | 2 nos. |
Cinnamon sticks | 2 nos. |
Green cardamom | 4 nos. |
Cloves | 3 nos. |
Coriander Chopped | 1 bunch |
Mint Chopped | 1 bunch |
Salt | To taste |
Method
- Wash the mutton and mince meat and keep aside.
- Heat a pan and dry roast the shahi zeera, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, mace and till they are fragrant and slightly browned. Keep stirring the spices mixture with a spoon to prevent them from burning.
- Slightly cool the mixture and grind them in a mixer to a semi fine powder.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add the mutton pieces and the powdered spice mixture to it. Mix well.
- Next, add the sliced onions and some salt and cook on high flame for 10 minutes while stirring frequently.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and saute it.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, coriander powder, chilly paste, curd, chopped mint and coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Cover the pan with a lid and leave the mutton to cook in the masala for about 15 minutes on medium-low flame.
- Add the mince meat, garam masala powder and adjust the salt. Mix and cook for another 15 minutes till the mince meat is cooked well and the mutton pieces are nice and tender. Serve hot with tandoori roti or naan.
