Malcha Mahal has a sad background story. Princess Wilayat Mahal was denied her royal property by the Britishers and as a result, she stayed in the VIP railway lounge in Delhi for 9 years. After so many years when the Indian Government decided to give back the property to the Begum, Malcha Mahal had lost all its glory. Begum committed suicide in the Mahal and her two children did not bury her, instead, they kept her body and mourned for 10 days before burning her. Both the princess and the prince, who are now dead, had cut themselves off from the world. The government had also permitted the royal heirs to shoot anyone who tried to invade the Mahal and so, there have been many instances when visitors did not return from the forest or were too haunted to speak a word.
