The International Kite Festival has been around since 1989! Also called Uttarayan Festival, it marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer, it is a one-stop for all the kite-flying fans!

See colourful, gigantic kites take to the skies from dawn to dusk in an ultra-competitive setting with both amateur and pro kite-fliers do what they are amazing at!

You get to meet kite-makers, attend kite-flying workshops, and learn about the art of flying kites! Meet like-minded people and challenge them to a few friendly rounds of kite-flying competition, and don’t leave without watching the light show built around kite-flying!

The fun happens all over Gujarat, but the International Kite Festival, in particular, happens in the city of Ahmedabad. The kite festival in Gujarat usually takes place on both the 14th and 15th of January every year, around the Makar Sankranti festival.
