Visit the Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

The ancient temple of Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy is another attraction near Dindi. This temple is quite spread out and coloured in different bright colours.  You can also see the idol of lord hanuman which dates back to the 15th century. There is a small entrance fee of Rs. 25. Other temples around Dindi are the Kotilingeswara Temple, the Ksheera Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple and an ISKON temple.

Explore the Coringa Wildlife sanctuary 

Coringa sanctuary is located around the estuary formed by a branch of the Gautami River, a distributary of the Godavari as it meets the sea at Coringa sanctuary.

If you are a bird watcher, this place is a godsend. It is the second largest stretch of mangrove forests in India with 24 species. About half of the area is the backwater, which includes a sand pit. If you have some extra time on your hands, you can also take a a 3 hour boat ride along the river which will take you to Hope Island and Yanam. Given its remote location, there aren’t any fancy restaurants nearby.  But you can treat yourself to some yummy street food after a long walk in the forest.

Try the Pootharekulu

You cannot visit a new destination without sampling the food. The local sweet delicacy of Andhra Pradesh commonly known as paper sweet is made of ghee, jaggery and cashew nut. Other than the Pootharekulu, you can also sample the authentic scrumptious tangy Andhra cuisine. Also, don’t forget the try ‘daab’, the early coconut.

Sir Arthur Cotton Museum

This museum was constructed in memory of Sir Arthur Thomas Cotton, a British irrigation engineer. He was popular for his effort to make the Godavari fertile by using which primarily include Dowleswaram Barrage and Anicut System. The museum displays many photographs, which show how the dam works and various tools that can be used in its fabrication.

Cycling and Camping

If you think Dindi is a sleepy hamlet and will not offer you any exercise, think again. Appreciate the beauty of Dindi on bicycle which is a common mode of transport.
